Stella Blues Band Information
Stella Blue's Band was formed in 2009 to recreate the live concert experience of the Grateful Dead faithfully. Garcia's at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York, has a new resident band, and they've chosen Stella. The band now calls Garcia's at The Cap their permanent residence, where they frequently perform as part of the Stella Weekends and DeadCenter series.
Stella has performed as the opening act for Santana at the Greenwich (CT.) Town Party, in the Central Park Bandshell since 2018 for an annual benefit for Riverkeeper, and on the same stage as Melvin Seals, Jerry Garcia's longtime keyboard player, and Mr. Phil Lesh, founding member of the Grateful Dead, at the Capitol Theater.
The band frequently performs at the Brooklyn Bowl and The Cutting Room in New York City, as well as various other venues in the city and the surrounding tri-state area. At the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, which was held at the original festival site of Yasgur's Farm, the band was allowed to perform as the evening's headliners.
SBB captures the musical enchantment of the Dead by featuring powerful jams with tons of improvisation. We play music spanning 30 years of the Grateful Dead's career, showcasing their unmistakable sound and fearless attitude.
