Tyron Kaymone Frampton (December 18, 1994) is a British rapper known by his stage name, Slowthai. He was born in Northampton, England. During his time at Northampton Academy, Frampton was known to skip classes in favor of spending time at an underground "recording studio" at a friend's house, which he would only cease when his mother was required to appear in court. His childhood nickname was "slow ty," which evolved into Slowthai.
With the help of independent record company Bone Soda, Slowthai released his I WISH I KNEW EP, Murder and T N Biscuits, in 2017. After signing with the label later that year, Slowthai dropped the RUNT EP, and his debut studio album, Nothing Great About Britain, reached No. 9 on the Official Albums Chart the week it was released.
Several media outlets have praised Slowthai, including the BBC's Sound of 2019 poll, NME's NME 100 list, DIY, Vevo, and Metro. A Mercury Music Prize nomination followed for his first album.
On Tyler, the Creator's track "WHAT'S GOOD" off his album Igor, Slowthai provided extra, uncredited vocals. In addition to appearing on "Heaven Belongs To You" off of Brockhampton's album Ginger, he accompanied the group on their 2019 North American HBTY tour as a special guest.
