Shelby Lynne Information
Shelby Lynne (October 22, 1968) is an American singer and songwriter. She was born in Quantico, Virginia. In 1987, Lynne appeared on Nashville Now, a TNN country music program. It didn't take long for her to sign with Epic Records. In 1988, she released her first single for Epic, a duet with George Jones titled "If I Could Bottle This Up," which eventually reached the top 50. For her first album, Sunrise (1989), Epic paired Lynne with producer Billy Sherrill.
The subsequent album, Tough All Over (1990), was a more mainstream country effort, and the following year's Soft Talk (1991) found Lynne shifting gears to sleek country pop. Lynne relocated to Palm Springs, California, around the year 1998. She teamed up with Bill Bottrell, a producer, and songwriter, on her upcoming album. The resulting album, I Am Shelby Lynne, is a mix of blues and pop-rock confessionals. Years later, she reflected on the album, saying, "That album came from the most vulnerable, desperate place."
"Every day, I think about it." The album was first released by Island Def Jam in the fall of 1999 in the United Kingdom and then in the United States the following year. She was named Best New Artist at the 43rd Grammy Awards, presented on February 21, 2001. During her victory speech, Lynne noted, "Thirteen years and six albums to get here." The song "Dreamsome" was used on the soundtrack of Bridget Jones's Diary.
