Selwyn Birchwood Band is an American ensemble that plays under the leadership of Selwyn Birchwood. The group has been touring non-stop since before they made their debut. The group has performed at several top festivals, including The Waterfront Blues Festival, The Tampa Bay Blues Festival, The Chicago Blues Festival, The North Atlantic Blues Festival, and The Mississippi Valley Blues Festival.
Internationally, Selwyn Birchwood Band has performed at the Moulin Blues Festival in The Netherlands, The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, the Rawa Blues Festival in Poland, Jazz a Vienne in France, and the Ottawa Blues Festival in Canada. The group has also delivered amazing performances in Spain, Norway, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, and Mexico.
The group has opened for major blues stars such as Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. The band members have also shared the stage with another good friend and teacher, Joe Louis Walker. The Selwyn Birchwood Band has forged new directions for the blues genre. Selwyn Birchwood is called “tough, indelibly modern next generation bluesman” by the Washington Post.
