Sarah Aili is a songwriter and singer, artist, actor, writer, dancer, and designer. By bridging the divide between several disciplines, particularly music and theater, Sarah Aili has made a career out of multitasking. She writes music, stories, and scripts and frequently works on several projects at once. With her most recent EP, Say Your Goodbyes Now, she embraces the full range of her influences, shedding light on not only her fusion of Americana, jazz, and vintage pop music but also how her artistic interests overlap.
Aili grew up in San Jose, California, where she studied voice, theater, and dance at a young age. Years earlier, she straddled the line between Nashville's songwriting culture, being out on the road with her music, and the theater world at large. Aili developed into one of the leading ladies in the Bay Area in several regional productions, such as Little Shop of Horrors and The Pajama Game. She was signed as a recording artist with Talking House Productions, a music production company with headquarters in San Francisco, with whom she wrote, recorded, and performed original music at The Warfield.
Aili recorded her most recent record at Left Plus Right Studio in East Nashville during a series of live sessions after releasing two EPs and one full-length album, Sessions. She says that because everyone was simultaneously present in the same space, the sound was unaffected by production. The idea was to present her music warmly and genuinely, highlighting the vocal strength and storytelling prowess of a performer who has spent most of her adult life onstage, in the composing room, and rehearsal.
