Sanctus Real Information
Sanctus Real is an American Christian rock band. The current lineup consists of Dustin Lolli, Mark Graalm, and Chris Rohman. Matt Hammitt, lead singer, and co-founder, announced his departure from the band on July 1, 2015, effective by the year's end. Soon after, Dustin Lolli became the band's lead vocalist.
After forming in 1996, Sanctus Real released three albums independently for the next five years. Say It Loud was their first album for a big label after signing with Sparrow Records in 2002. In June of that same year, they released Fight the Tide, which went on to win a GMA Dove Award in 2005 and spawn two top-charting singles on Christian radio, as reported by R&R. In April of 2006, the band dropped their third studio album, titled The Face of Love. In 2007, the song "I'm Not Alright" was nominated for a GMA Dove Award.
They finished recording their fourth album, 2008's We Need Each Other, in the fall of 2007 and released it the following February. It inspired the hit tune "We Need Each Other" and was nominated for a Grammy. In March of 2010, Sanctus Real released their fifth studio album, Pieces of a Real Heart, which featured the Christian Billboard number one singles "Lead Me" and "Forgiven" and was nominated for a Grammy. The band's sound has developed from power pop into something more melodic and guitar-driven, reflecting the influence of contemporary alternative rock.
