Johnny Shockey had certain intentions when he established it for the 2019 Under The Big Sky Rodeo Round-up and Music Festival in Whitefish, Montana. In 2015, the rancher and CEO of Outrider's Present purchased a roughly 400-acre ranch to showcase Montana's summertime beauty, highlight a diverse group of vocalists, and preserve the land.
Being held at one of the most beautiful 350-acre ranches in the vicinity of Glacier National Park, the event presents a flawless combination of live music and natural beauty in the embrace of Montana's breathtaking scenery.
The festival has been home to big names such as Tyler Childers and Trampled by Turtles, and it is not just about music. Activities include rodeos, trail rides, and more, making the festival a very unique one.
The 2025 festival was held July 18-July 20 at Big Mountain Ranch, Whitefish. Mumford and Sons, Tyler Childers, and The Red Clay Strays were the headliners of the lineup. The rest of the good performances were Wynonna Judd, Whitey Morgan & The 78s, Hailey Whitters, Luke Grimes, and Oliver Anthony. It was attended by about 20,000 people, cementing its reputation as one of the largest yearly events in the northwest corner of Montana.
