Roomful of Blues Information
Roomful of Blues is an American swing and blues revival band based in Rhode Island. The group’s current lineup consists of Rich Lataille (alto saxophone and tenor), Chris Vachon (guitar), Phil Pemberton (vocal), John Turner (upright bass and bass guitar), Chris Anzalone (drums), Carl Gerhard (trumpet), Alek Razdan (baritone and tenor saxophone), and Rusty Scott (piano and Hammond organ). The band’s recording career spans over 50 years.
Roomful of Blues has toured across the world and recorded several albums throughout their career, releasing its self-titled debut album on Island Records in 1977. The founding member of the group, Duke Robillard, left the band in 1980 and was replaced by Ronnie Earl (guitarist). The group often backed musicians such as Earl King, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Joe Turner, Roy Brown, Jimmy McCracklin, and Jimmy Whitherspoon.
Roomful of Blues has worked with several record labels since they started playing music and recording hit albums. The record labels include Alligator Records, Bullseye Blues, Black Top, Varrick Records. Muse Records, Mango Records, and Island Records.
Roomful of Blues has released several notable studio albums to date, including Let’s Have a Party (1979), Hot Little Mama! (1981), Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson & Roomful of Blues (1982), Blues Train (1983), Dressed Up To Get Messed Up (1984), Glazed (1986), True Love (1991), Dance All Night (1994), Turn It On! Turn It Up! (1995), Rhythm & Bones (1996), Under One Roof (1997), Roomful of Christmas (1997), and There Goes the Neighborhood (1998).
