Riot Band Information
Riot V is an American heavy metal band formerly known as Riot. The group was founded in 1975 in New York City by guitarist Mark Reale. The band’s music is classified as power metal, hard rock, heavy metal, speed metal, and hard rock. In the early 1980s, Riot V reached peak popularity, and since then, it has continued a long-running successful career. The band’s current lineup consists of Mike Flyntz – lead guitar, Don Van Stavern – bass, Frank Gilchriest – drums, Todd Michael Hall – lead vocals, and Nick Lee – rhythm guitar.
Riot V is a new iteration of the band launched after Mar Reale’s death, a founding member. The surviving members launched Riot V in 2013. Rock City was the first album released by Riot V in 1977, followed by Narita in 1979. Some of the other initial albums by the group include Fire Down Under (1981), Restless Breed (1982), Born in America (1983), and Thundersteel (1988).
Initially, Riot V’s sound was a straightforward heavy metal, but after releasing their 1988 album, Thundersteel, the group’s musical direction shifted to power metal. Riot V has faced many breakups and reunions thus far. Riot V also released a few live discographies, including Riot Live (EP) 1982, Riot in Japan – Live!! 1992, and Shine On 1998.
