Richard Lin Information
Richard Lin (July 6, 1991) is a Taiwanese-American violinist. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona. At age 4, Lin started learning to play the violin. Gregory Lee taught him while he was still in Taiwan. He has been Professor Aaron Rosand's student at the Curtis Institute of Music since 2008. He has been a student at Juilliard since 2013, where Lewis Kaplan has taught him.
At the sixth annual Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand in 2011, he placed in the top two. He took first place at the fifth annual Sendai International Music Competition in 2013. Two international violin competitions awarded him prizes in 2015: the Singapore International Violin Competition, where he placed second, and the 9th Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition, where he placed third.
Among the many orchestras he has performed with as a soloist are the Sendai Philharmonic, the Auckland Philharmonic, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia. His many solo performances have taken him to Japan, Taiwan, and the United States while he now resides in the Big Apple.
