Richard Goode Information
Richard Goode (June 1, 1943) is an American classical pianist. He was born in East Bronx, New York. He is known for his extensive discography, which features several Mozart piano concertos performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and recordings of music by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, and Bach.
Goode was the first pianist born in the United States to record all of Beethoven's piano sonatas. He is a frequent performer at the most prestigious venues in the globe. He gave the first performances of pieces written for him by composers such as Carlos Chávez, George Perle, and Robert Helps, among others. Dawn Upshaw, Richard Stoltzman, and Alexander Schneider were among the musicians who collaborated with him in chamber music.
Alongside Mitsuko Uchida, Goode served as the Artistic Co-Director of the Marlboro Music School and Festival from the years 1999 through 2013. Marcia Weinfeld was a violinist, and Goode married her. In the book titled Quintet: Five Journeys toward Musical Fulfillment, written by David Blum and published by Cornell University Press in 1999, there is a literary picture of Richard Goode. It was initially published as an essay in the issue of The New Yorker on June 29, 1992.
