Shawn Ellis Amos (September 13, 1967) is an American record producer, blues singer, songwriter, and a digital marketing entrepreneur. He was born in New York, New York, and is best known for his blues singing and harmonic player skills, “The Reverend Shawn Amos.” Under the moniker, he has released several singles, extended plays, live and studio albums. Amos has worked under a few record labels throughout his career, including Put Together Music, Shout! Factory and Rhino.
Amos started his musical career in 1997, and the same year, the A&R department of Rhino Entertainment hired him through Gary Stewart, who was the department head. While he was working in Rhino Entertainment, Amos also began working on his debut album entitled “Harlem.” The album was first released in 2000 on the Unbreakable Records. He also produced an overview of Quincy Jones’ career named “Q: The Musical Biography of Quincy Jones” in 2001. The very same year, Quincy released his second album entitled “In Between” on the same record label.
Bob Emmer, Garson Foos, and Richard Foos, who were co-founders of Rhino Entertainment, recruited Amos to manage the A&R department of their newly formed entertainment company named “Shout! Factory.” Amos later took a hiatus and focused on ventures in his digital marketing career. Still, the music was hard to leave behind, so he returned to roots music and released “The Reverend Shawn Amos Tells” in 2014 straight away. In 2015, he released his fifth studio album named The Reverend Shawn Amos Loves You.
