Rebirth Brass Band Information
The Rebirth Brass Band is an American band based in New Orleans that plays brass music and founded in 1983. The current lineup of the band includes Phillip “Tuba Phil” Frazier (tuba), Keith Frazier (bass drum), Chadrick Honore (trumpet), Glenn Hall III (trumpet), Gregory Veals (trombone), Stafford Agee (trombone), Vincent Broussard (tenor saxophone), Jenard Andrews (snare drum and cymbals), and Clifton “Spug” Smith (tuba).
The Rebirth Brass released its self-titled album in 1984 on Arhoolie Records, recorded in Grease Lounge. The band members have appeared in several episodes of the “Treme,” an HBO series with some band members that has provided consultation to the series. The group has also appeared in the opening scene of NCIS: New Orleans, Season 1, Episode 2 (2014). “What Goes Around Comes Around” and “Why You Worried Bout Me” were played in the Season 1 background in Episode 10.
The Rebirth Brass won the Grammy Award for the Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2012, the inaugural year. The group performed in the 54th Annual Grammy Awards during its Pre-Telecast ceremony.
The Rebirth Brass’ notable albums include Here to Stay!, Feel Like Funkin’ It Up, Do Whatcha Wanna, Rebirth Kickin’ It Live, Take It To The Street, Rollin’, We Come To Party, and Main Event: Live At The Maple Leaf.
