Primitive Man Information
Primitive Man is an American doom metal band. The current lineup consists of Joe Linden (drums), Jonathan Campos (bass), and Ethan Lee McCarthy (guitars and vocals). They are renowned for their brutally harsh sound, which combines elements of black metal, noise music, and funeral doom, as well as their bluntly nihilistic perspective. Their third studio album, Immersion, was released in 2020 through Relapse Records.
Bassist Jonathan Campos, drummer Bennet Kennedy, and guitarist-vocalist Ethan Lee McCarthy established the group in February 2012. The band worked with producer Dave Otero at Flatline Audio in October 2012 to create their debut album, Scorn.
The album was issued with the record companies Throatruiner Records and Mordgrimm. Isidro "Spy" Soto joined the group as the band's temporary live and session drummer after the album's release. Eleven tracks from the band's P/M demo tape, released in February 2013, were included. The band inked a contract with Relapse Records in June 2013, and Scorn was reissued this summer. The group set out on their first US tour with Reproacher in July and August. The band has completed numerous additional tours across Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Japan, and the United States.
