Portrayal of Guilt Information
Portrayal of Guilt is a hardcore punk band. The current lineup of the group consists of James Beveridge (drums), Alex Stanfield (bass), and Matt King (guitar and vocals). After touring with Centuries, Majority Rule, Planning for Burial, Street Sects, and Slow Fire Pistol in support of their self-titled EP, which was released in May 2017, the trio went on a massive North American and European tour.
They toured with the industrial hardcore band Street Sects in 2017, and in March of that year, the two bands collaborated on an EP that was met with widespread acclaim. This month also saw the reissue of Deathwish Inc.'s self-titled 7 ". For their July 2018 U.S. tour supporting French post-hardcore veterans Birds in Row, the band issued a 7" with just one side, "Chamber of Misery (Part 1)." "to promote their debut studio album.
The Washington Post highlighted Portrayal of Guilt, along with contemporaries Vein and Infant Island, in February 2019 for breathing "fresh vitality" into the screamo genre. Touring in support of their LP, Portrayal of Guilt supported Pg. 99, Majority Rule, The HIRS Collective, and Wrong in 2019.
