Theodore Joseph “Ted” Horowitz (March 31, 1960) is an American electric, rock blues singer, guitarist, and composer born in The Bronx, New York City. Horowitz began to play the drums at the age of thirteen years. Later, he began listening to the music of the Rolling Stones, which influenced him to start playing the guitar as well. His musical influences have been said to be the 1960s Cream and Jimi Hendrix. Mainly, Horowitz used to play blues music, but he has also worked as backing for Richard Hell, who was a punk rock poet. He won the national blues talent search that was sponsored by KLON, a public radio station, which brought some public attention to Horowitz.
Horowitz has worked with a few record labels throughout his careers, such as Blind Pig, Shanachie, Lightyear, Prime, Okeh, a division of Cleopatra Records, and Cleopatra Blues. His debut album was named “The First Cuts,” and it was a collection of his early material.
Horowitz has released several albums throughout his career such as The Hungry Years; It’s Chubby Time (1994), Gas Money (1994), Booty and the Beast (1995), Hit the High Hard One (1996), One Million Broken Guitars (1998), One Night Live in New York City (1999), How’d a Wjoye Get the Blues?
