Pokey LaFarge Information
Pokey LaFarge is an actor, writer, and musician born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois. Currently, LaFarge is based in Los Angeles, California. He adopted his name “Pokey LaFarge” because it sounded like what he looked for as a musician when he was moving just around the United States. In 2001, LaFarge completed his graduation from the University High School.
LaFarge released his debut album entitled “Marmalade” in 2006 independently. The same year, he went on tour with The Hackensaw Boys. In 2008, LaFarge released his second solo album entitled “Beat, Move & Shake.” The album was released on the Big Muddy Records. In July 2009, he began recording his first album with The South City Three, entitled “Riverboat Soul,” recorded under Free Dirt Records in 2010.
LaFarge, along with The South City Three, began working on their second album together entitled “Middle of Everywhere.” Both group albums won the Independent Music Award for Best Americana Album in their respective years. The group also released “Chittlin’ Cookin’ Time In Cheatham County” produced by Jack White.
LaFarge signed a record deal with Third Man Records in 2013. He released his first album on the label entitled “Something in the Water” in April 2015. Other notable studio albums by Pokey LaFarge include Live in Holland (2012), Pokey LaFarge (2013), Manic Revelations (2017), and Rock Bottom Rhapsody (2020).
