Peabo Bryson Information
Peabo Bryson (April 13, 1951) is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, composer, and keyboardist who was born as Robert Peapo Bryson. Bryson spent most of his childhood on his grandfather's farm located in Mauldin, South Carolina. His love for music developed from his mother, who used to take her family to concerts of famous African-American artists. Bryson officially entered music professionally at 14 years old.
Initially, Bryson sang backup for Al Freeman and the Upsetters that was a local Greenville group. Two years later, he left and began touring with the Chitlin' Circuit. Soon he was able to gain the attention of the general manager of the label Atlanta's Bang Records, Eddie Biscoe. Bryson was signed as a producer, arranger, and writer by Biscoe. He launched his recording career on the Bang label, "Underground Music." He later released a self-titled studio album in 1976.
Some of the most successful hits by Bryson include 1978's "I'm So into You," 1977's "Feel the Fire," "Reaching for the Sky," 1982's "Let the Feeling Flow," 1989's "Show and Tell," 1984's "If Ever You're In My Arms Again," and a 1991 hit "Can You Stop the Rain." A few of his romantic duet love songs are "What You Won't Do for Love," with Natalie Cole; "There's Nothin' Out There," with Chaka Khan; and "I Can't Imagine," with Regina Belle. Bryson has won two Grammy Awards (1992, 1993) and several nominations.
