Palaver Strings Information
Based in Portland, Maine, Palaver Strings is a charitable group that features a musician-led string ensemble. In the short time since its 2014 inception, the forward-thinking group Palaver has made a name for itself as a musical force for good in the world. With a shared commitment to reaching new listeners, tackling pressing social problems, and giving a voice to those who are often silenced, the musicians of Palaver take turns at the helm of the organization's artistic and administrative affairs.
Palaver hosts a yearlong concert series that showcases a wide range of musical programming, collaborative efforts across genres, and local talent. Similarly dedicated to teaching, Palaver's Portland music school, the Palaver Music Center, presently instructs hundreds of students. The Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall hosted performances by Palaver during his extensive U.S. tour in honor of the Lullaby Project.
Ready or Not is the group's third album and was published with the help of Azica Records. The Rockport Music Festival, the Boston Center for the Arts, Bay Chamber Concerts, and the Longy School of Music have all hosted Palaver as a resident artist. (2022-2023). During his time at Longy, Palaver performs frequently and teaches a graduate-level course on the relationship between music and social change.
