Nikka Costa Information
Domenica "Nikka" Costa (June 4, 1972) is an American singer from Tokyo, Japan. Her music is defined as a blend of pop, soul, and blues. Nikka is the daughter of music producer Don Costa and is married to Australian producer/songwriter Justin Stanley. As a child, Nikkita was surrounded by famous musicians and traveled around the world with her father. She recorded a single with Hawaiian singer Don Ho at the age of five. Danny B. Besquet and Tony Renis, Italian producers, came up with the idea to produce an album with Costa singing with her father playing acoustic guitar after working with her father on the album Don Costa Plays the Beatles.
Their idea was a success and was well received in Europe, and Costa became the star after the release of this album. At the age of nine, Costa appeared on the lawn of the White House, where she sang with Frank Sinatra. In 1981, Costa's career as a recording artist officially began. She recorded a single named "(Out Here) On My Own" (from the movie Fame) that reached number 72 in Germany, 32 in the Netherlands, 13 in Belgium, 7 in Switzerland, and 1 in Italy.
A self-titled album was her first album that was released outside the U.S. in 1981. It was followed by Fairy Tales, aka Cuentos de Hadas in 1983, and Here I Am... Yes, It's Me, aka Loca Tentación in 1989. Her adult career began in the early 1990s. Some of her then released studio albums are Butterfly Rocket (1996), Pebble to a Pearl (2008), and Pro Whoa (2011). Live at the Bridge (1996), Live in Tokyo (2001), and Live at the Roxy (2005) are three of her live albums.
