Monuments Information
Monuments is an international progressive metal band. The group's current lineup consists of Werner Erkelens, Andy Cizek, Mike Malyan, and John Browne. John Browne, guitarist for Fellsilent, and Josh Travis, guitarist for the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, joined forces in 2007 to establish the band. The band went through several lineup changes before finally settling on Century Media Records in 2012, on the same day they announced the arrival of singer Matt Rose. Gnosis, their first album, was released on August 28, 2012.
The band joined Jeff Loomis, Vildhjarta, and Stealing Axion on the Euroblast European Tour. In early 2013, Born of Osiris and After the Burial embarked on a second European tour. The singer, Matt Rose, left the band in March of 2013. Chris Barretto, formerly of Periphery and currently of Ever Forthright and The HAARP Machine, was revealed as the band's new vocalist in July 2013.
The band announced on Facebook in December 2013 that their second album was finished. Browne tracked the remainder of the instruments and vocals with the help of Eyal Levi. At the same time, the drums were recorded with Romesh Dodangoda (Motörhead, Sylosis, Bring Me the Horizon) at Monnow Valley Studio in Wales. Their upcoming album, The Amanuensis, was announced in April this year and set for release on June 23.
