Maysa Leak (August 17, 1966) is an American jazz singer, songwriter, and record producer from Baltimore, Maryland. She is better known by her mononym Maysa, and smooth jazz fans love Maysa for her solo and British band Incognito’s work. Her music is defined as soul, R&B, and jazz. Maysa Leak attended Milford Mill High School, and later she went to Morgan State University in Baltimore City to study music. She performed as a member of the world-famous Morgan State University Choir during college.
Maysa moved to Southern California after graduating to perform with Stevie Wonder’s female backup group named Wonderlove. She also performed on several television shows, including Oprah, The Arsenio Hall Show, and The Tonight Show.
In 1995, Maysa recorded her self-titled debut, followed by her second album entitled All My Life in 2000. Some of her other notable studio albums include Out of the Blue (2002), Smooth Sailing (2004), Sweet Classic Soul (2006), Feel the Fire (2007), Metamorphosis (2008), and A Woman in Love (2010). Metamorphosis hit number one on the Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz top 100 charts, and A Woman in Love debuted at number one on the Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart.
