Born in Los Angeles and spending his teenage years in Kansas City, Marqueal Jordan is firmly established in musically fertile Chicago. After graduating from the University of Kansas, Jordan moved to Chicago and started making his own by playing gigs in every conceivable musical genre. Even in his early years, he became known as a seasoned and charismatic performer. Jordan fronted the lauded local original band Fat Time and then joined Starcandy. By the new millennium, he was in high demand as a performer by the city's most prominent bands and musicians.
Jordan met Brian Culbertson, a major figure in Smooth Jazz, in 2008. After hearing Jordan play and sing, Brian invited him to join his traveling band. Over the next decade, Jordan and Brian visited all seven continents, filmed two DVDs, and recorded four albums together. The publicity inspired him to pursue a career as a solo performer.
Jordan's first album under his name, Catalyst, came out in October 2013. It aided in launching his career as a promising newcomer to the Smooth & Contemporary Jazz scene. His second solo album, Intention & Purpose, was recorded after he left Brian Culbertson's band in the summer of 2018 to pursue a solo career. The album, released in February 2019, displays his developing abilities as a songwriter, arranger, and producer. It features various musical styles, including Contemporary Jazz, Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop.
