Mairead Nesbitt is a famous Irish musician who was born in Tipperary, Ireland. Nesbitt performs classical and Celtic music and was a former fiddler for Celtic Woman. She began her formal musical studies at The Ursuline Convent in Thurles, County Tipperary. She later progressed through the Waterford Institute of Technology and the Cork School of Music. She began to play piano at four and violin at the age of six. Nesbitt participated in the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, completing postgraduate studies at Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London under Emanuel Hurwitz.
According to Nesbitt, besides her family, she also has her influences range from Michael Coleman and Itzhak Perlman to bluegrass artist Alison Krauss, rock’s David Bowie, and Sting. As a solo artist, her debut solo album was released entitled “Raining Up” in 2001 (United Kingdom) and 2006 (United States). Her following solo album was released in December 2016 entitled Hibernia.
Nesbitt’s notable contributions throughout her career include Lord of the Dance (March 1997), Feet of Flames (February 1999), Tinker Bell (October 2008), Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure (September 2009), and Devil’s Bit Sessions (June 2017).
