Maino Information
Maino (August 30, 1978) is an American rapper. He was born in New York City. The atmosphere intensified as DJ Clue played mixtapes featuring "Brooklyn's Finest" (including Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, and Lil' Kim). Because "I was never comfortable writing my raps down," Maino opted for the "no writing" method of emceeing. After his release from prison in 2003, Maino wasted no time establishing the independent musical label Hustle Hard Entertainment. Maino was offered a contract by Universal Motown Records in 2005 after having released some mixtapes and appeared on several notable tracks as a guest artist. On August 27, 2007, Maino was released from his contract with Universal Motown Records.
Later that year, on August 28, 2007, Maino inked a deal with Atlantic Records for himself and his Hustle Hard label. He immediately started recording his first album, titled If Tomorrow Comes... With the release of "Hi Hater," he officially entered the music industry in April 2008. The official remix, which also features American rappers T.I., Swizz Beatz, Plies, Jadakiss, and Fabolous, was released by Maino later. Featuring T-Pain, "All the Above" was the album's second single. Maino's first single to enter the Billboard Hot 100 is "All the Above." Starting at #54, it quickly climbed to #39 the following week.
On February 2, 2010, Maino released Unstoppable, an extended play (EP) featuring four new recordings, exclusively through iTunes. On July 5, 2011, Maino revealed that Atlantic Records would continue to promote his second studio album, The Day After Tomorrow, but E1 Music would handle distribution.
