Lydia Pense was born as Lydia Jane Pense in San Francisco, California, on December 14, 1947. She is an American rock-soul-jazz singer and musician. Her music style is often described as rock, Urban contemporary, East Bay Grease, and Blue-eyed soul. Since 1969, she has been performing with the band Cold Blood. Lydia Pense attended Sequoia High School. She began singing along with a band named The Dimensions. Being a fan of Brenda Lee, she used to sing her songs but later switched to R&B in the style of James Brown, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, and Ray Charles.
When the band Cold Blood separated in the late 1970s, Pense also paused her music career in the early 1980s for the sake of her daughter. The group reformed in 1988 and continued to record, tour and perform. The initial four albums released by the group along with Pense are; Cold Blood, Sisyphus, First Taste of Sin, and Thriller. All four albums are declared as the best pieces by the band.
