LowCountry Jazz Festival Information
LowCountry Jazz Festival is defined as the special time of year when jazz fans flock to Charleston to celebrate the Holy City’s rich jazz heritage. Charleston Jazz took its first breath at the dawn of acceptance of jazz music as the classical music of the US. The LowCountry Jazz Festival was founded with the help of Jazz Artists of Charleston (JAC), which was under the leadership of Leah Suárez. The JAC was approached by the City of Charleston to launch a Charleston Jazz Festival during January 2014.
The first Annual LowCountry Jazz Festival was held at the American Theatre in January 2015. The second Annual Charleston Jazz festival was held at a variety of venues all across Charleston. The festival featured 10-time Grammy Award Winner, Arturo Sandoval, along with a 2-time Grammy Award Winner, Diane Schuur. The year 2017 saw dynamic performances from 20-time Grammy Award Winners The Manhattan Transfer and Take 6. They performed at the 3rd Annual Charleston Jazz Festival for which Matthew Pardieck was selected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The festival has featured the iconic saxophonist, Kenny G, at the Charleston Gaillard Center. The festival stage was also graced by the performance of Grammy-nominated vocalist Nnenna Freelon.
