Loose Ends Information
Loose Ends is a British R&B band. The current group lineup consists of Sunay Suleyman, Linda Carriere, Laurnea Wilkerson, and Carl McIntosh. In 1981, Loose Ends (then known as Loose End) inked a record deal with Virgin Records. Some of their first album's songs were written by brothers Chris and Eddie Amoo, whose band The Real Thing had hit the top of the UK Singles Chart in the '70s. In 1983, the band rebranded itself as Loose Ends and continued to release music under the Virgin label. In the United States, they were sold through MCA Records.
As soon as Steve Nichol graduated from the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama, he started the band. In 1982, Nichol joined The Jam and played trumpet, trombone, and piano on their tour. The group's debut single, "Hangin' on a String (Contemplating)," peaked at No. 13 on the British singles chart in 1985. By topping the US Billboard R&B chart with "Hangin' on a String," Loose Ends became the first Afro-British band to achieve this feat. That same year, their single "Magic Touch" peaked at No. 16.
Carl McIntosh is still active as a performer and songwriter, going by the name Loose Ends along with original bandmates Linda Carriere and Sunay Suleyman from 1990. A new record agreement with the British hip-hop label Digital Jukebox Records was inked by Loose Ends in 2021, allowing the group's future songs and albums to be released.
