Loony Information
Vladimir Markovic (December 4, 1980) is a Serbian singer-songwriter, filmmaker, actor, and comic artist, dubbing director, professionally known by his stage name, Loony. He studied Dramatic Arts at the University of Arts, Belgrade.
Loony began his career as a child star “Zlatko” in a Serbian Children’s television series “Metla Bez Drške.” He also got a chance to sing in the children’s choir Kolibri, with a few appearances in TV shows like “Ispeci Pa Reci” “Deco Pevajte Sa Nama.” In his teenage years, Loony became an underground comic artist. It adopted his popular alias “Loony” as an artist name for the first time in 1999. In the early 2000s, he organized an alternative comics magazine and workshops “Šlic Comix” with his friends’ squad. Some of them were republished internationally. Loony then quit drawing started writing for other artists. In 2002, he began editing and directing hip-hop music videos.
Loony then switched to film-making. His top-notch directed TV shows were “X-Factor Adria,” “Hocu Da Znaš,” and “Siti i Vitki.” His first solo single, “Jutro (Pametnije Od Noci),” with a music video, reached number 2 in the domestic music video chart on TV Metropolis. He was also featured on the albums of other artists, including Lud’s “Geto Riba,” with music video stars from “Mi Nismo Andeli 2”. He released a mixtape “Featuring! Vol. 1” in 2010. In 2011, his first album “Kompromis,” was released with a few singles.
Loony is the only Serbian solo urban and R&B artist. He also works as dubbing director for Disney and Sony films in Serbia.
