Living Colour Information
Living Colour is an American rock band. The current lineup consists of Doug Wimbish (backing vocals, programming, guitar, drums, and bass), Will Calhoun (drums, percussion, keyboards, samples, backing vocals, and programming), Corey Glover (occasional tambourine, occasional rhythm guitar, and lead vocals), and Vernon Reid (backing vocals, laptop, programming, guitar synthesizer, and lead guitar). Their music is a creative combination of alternative rock, punk, hip-hop, jazz, funk, and heavy metal influences. The band's lyrics include a wide range of topics, from personal to political, and include social commentary on racism in the United States.
So far, Living Colour has produced six studio albums. Vivid, the band's debut album released in 1988, catapulted them to popularity. Living Colour's hallmark anthem "Cult of Personality," which earned a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1990, is the band's most well-known song. They were also named Best New Artist at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, and their follow-up album Time's Up earned them their second Grammy Award (1990).
Stain (1993), their third album, was likewise favorably regarded by music critics. Living Color reformed in late 2000 after disbanding in 1995 and has since released three additional studio albums: Collideøscope (2003), The Chair in the Doorway (2009), and Shade (2017). The band has been working on new songs in preparation for the follow-up to Shade.
