Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (September 27, 1982), better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, is a popular American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is frequently mentioned among the all-time greats as one of the most significant figures in hip-hop history. In 1995, Wayne was the youngest member of Cash Money Records when he was signed by rapper Birdman.
Lil Wayne exploded onto the rap scene as part of Hot Boys in the late 90s but made his mark when he went solo with "Tha Carter" in 2004. The New Orleans rapper changed hip-hop forever with his unique flow and clever wordplay that nobody could copy. He won five Grammy Awards and became one of the best-selling rap artists ever with hits like "Lollipop," "A Milli," and "6 Foot 7 Foot." Wayne built his empire through the Carter series - each album showed his growth as an artist and cemented his place in rap history. "Tha Carter III" in 2008 sold over a million copies in its first week and proved he was at the top of the game. He's worked with basically every major artist in hip-hop, from Drake and Nicki Minaj (who he helped make famous) to Jay-Z and Kanye West. His mixtapes, such as the "Dedication" series and "No Ceilings," kept fans hungry between albums and showcased his incredible work ethic.
Wayne dropped "Tha Carter VI" on June 6, 2025, and launched the supporting tour the same night with his first solo headlining show at Madison Square Garden. The tour celebrates over 20 years of the Carter series. It hits venues like Target Center in Minneapolis on August 20, Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on August 16, and wraps up on October 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
