Lee Fields and The Expressions Information
Elmer Lee Fields is an American soul singer. He was born in 1951 in North Carolina and often nicknamed "Little JB" for his vocal and physical resemblance to James Brown. Fields develop an interest in music from a young age. At the age of 17, he decided to go to New York and pursue his musical career. In his late teens, at the time of his marriage, Fields moved to Plainfield, New Jersey. His current music style is defined as soul, funk, and R&B.
The first single recorded and released by Fields was in 1969 entitled "Bewildered" b/w "Tell Her I Love Her.” In 1973, he recorded another single on London Records entitled "Gonna Make Love." It was followed by his popular 45, "Let's Talk It Over" b/w "She's a Love Maker" and "Everybody Gonna Give Their Thing Away to Somebody (Sometime)" b/w "East Coast Rapper” in 1975. The first full-length album by Fields was entitled Let's Talk It Over, released in 1980.
In the 1980s, when DJs entered the music industry, Fields moved into real estate in Newark, New Jersey, for his family needs. Later in the 1990s, he returned singing soul-blues on the Southern circuit. Some of the notable discographies he released are Coming to Tear the Roof Down, Dreaming Big Time, Gimmie the Paw, Let's Get a Groove On, Problems, and many more.
Some of his hit singles are "Give Me a Chance," "Shot Down," "Jealousy," "Everybody," "I'm a Good Man," "Honey Dove," "It Rains Love," "All I Need," "You Made A New Man Out Of Me," and a few more. Fields provided additional vocals for the James Brown biographical movie, Get On Up in 2014.
