Kix Information
Kix, often stylized as KIX, is an American hard rock band that was formerly known as The Shooze (1977-1979), The Generators (1980), and The Baltimore Cocks. The group originated from Hagerstown, Maryland, and deals in the glam metal and hard rock genres. It was originally founded in December 1977 by Ronnie Younkins, Brian Forsythe, and Donnie Purnell. The current lineup of the band consists of Brian "Damage" Forsythe – guitar, guitar synthesizer, occasional backing vocals; Ronnie "10/10" Younkins – guitar, talkbox, backing vocals; Steve Whiteman – lead vocals, harmonica, percussion, saxophone, harp, drums, acoustic guitar; Jimmy "Chocolate" Chalfant – drums, percussion, effects, backing vocals, and Mark Schenker – bass, backing vocals.
Kix achieved popularity during the 1980s. Initially, the band signed a contract with Time Warner affiliate Atlantic Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1981. Some of the singles included in this album are "Atomic Bombs," "The Itch," and "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah." "Love at First Sight" was another track that turned out to be a concert favorite.
The debut album by Kix was followed by Cool Kids 1983, Midnite Dynamite 1985, Blow My Fuse 1988, Hot Wire 1991, $how Bu$ine$$ 1995, and Rock Your Face Off 2014. The two Live albums by the band are Live (1993) and Live in Baltimore (2012). Kix also released three compilation albums that are The Essentials (2002), Thunderground (2004), and Rhino Hi-Five EP (2006). Blow My Fuse: The Videos (1989) is the only and hit video album by Kix.
Kix has appeared at the Rocklahoma festival in 2008 in Oklahoma and is continuously sighted at the annual M3 Rock Festival in Maryland.
