King Diamond Information
Kim Bendexi Petersen, or as popularly known, King Diamond, is a Danish vocalist with an extensive range of vocals including his trademark falsetto. He is the lead vocalist of the rock band Mercyful Fate, with a very distinct makeup persona while on stage. He uses a mic with a handle made out of a femur bone and a tibia bone shaped like a cross.
He began his musical journey in a rock band called Brainstorm, where he stayed from 1974 to 1976. After which he joined a Danish hard rock band Black Rose, and began experimenting with horror-themed theatrics including quasi-Satanic persona while on stage. From Black Rose, King Diamond joined punk-metal band Brats and later Mercyful Fate band, though he left the band in 1984 to embark on a solo career and re-joined in 1992 while continuing solo on the side.
During his solo career (while still in Mercyful Fate) King Diamond released five studio albums. His time at Mercyful Fate did not last long, as in 200 he called it quits to focus on his solo career. Some of the releases King Diamond did while solo include Give Me Your Soul… Please, in which the truck Never Ending Hill went on to get a Grammy nomination in the ‘Best Metal Performance’ category.
