Kevin Michael Costner is a filmmaker, musician, and actor. He was born in Lynwood, California, and grew up in Compton, California. Costner attended Mt. Whitney High School, where he was also a marching band member. He then moved to Orange County, where he graduated in 1973 from Villa Park High School. Costner gained a B.A. in marketing and finance degree in 1978 from California State University, Fullerton. He started taking an interest in dancing and acting while in the last year of his college. Soon after he graduated, Costner married Cindy Silva, best known for working at Disneyland as Cinderella.
Costner made his debut film appearance in Sizzle Beach, U.S.A., originally known as Hot Malibu Summer. The film was shot in the winter of 1978-1979, but it was not released until 1981. The film was re-released in 1986. He also appeared briefly in the film by Ron Howard named Night Shift in 1982. Costner received movie star status in 1987 after starring in The Untouchables as federal agent Eliot Ness. He also did a leading role in the thriller, No Way Out.
Costner has also received credits for several films as a producer, including Let Him Go (2020), Yellowstone (2018), Black or White (2014), Hatfields & McCoys (2012), Rapa Nui (1994), The Bodyguard (1992), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), Dances with Wolves (1990), and Revenge (1990).
