Kevin Perez (April 20, 2003) is an American rapper known by his stage name, Kay Flock. He was born in The Bronx, New York. On November 5, 2021, he dropped his first mixtape, The D.O.A. Tape, which quickly rose to the top of Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. The song "Is Ya Ready," which he dropped in August, made it onto journalist Jon Caramanica's selection of the best 28 tracks of 2021. Kay's "Being Honest," which samples XXXTentacion's "Changes," was released in September. The track was included in Pitchfork's top 38 rap tracks of 2021 and top 100 songs of 2021, where it was praised for sounding "reminiscent of G Herbo."
In November, he won the Hip Hop Rookie of the Month award from Billboard. While speaking with XXL, he mentioned that he had received comparisons to King Von and Pop Smoke, with Asian Doll remarking that Von would have been a fan of Kay Flock. Kay Flock's collaboration with Dougie B and Cardi B on "Shake It," which included Bory300, was released in April 2022 and reached number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. Cardi B's verse replaced that of Yonkers rapper Mula Gzz, whose version of the song was leaked months earlier.
