Kamasi Washington Information
Kamasi Washington (February 18, 1981) is an American jazz saxophonist. He helped form the jazz group West Coast Get Down. In My Time, released in 2005 by the Gerald Wilson Orchestra, included Washington's vocals. The outdoor Labor Day Jazz Concert at Village Green, Los Angeles, was performed by "The Kamasi Washington Band" in 2008 and 2009.
In September 2017, Washington dropped their mini-album/EP Harmony of Difference. Heaven and Earth, his second full-length studio album, came out in June 2018, and the following week, an extended play (EP) called The Choice was released to accompany it. The foundation of the supergroup Dinner Party was announced on June 25, 2020, by Washington, Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, and 9th Wonder.
Music for the Movement, a series by The Undefeated, included a new single, "Sun Kissed Child," by Washington on June 18, 2021. In addition, the charity tribute album The Metallica Blacklist featured a rendition of "My Friend of Misery" by Metallica, which Washington and his band covered in 2021. The 2023 Libera Awards for Best Jazz Record went to Kamasi Washington and her album "The Garden Path."
