Joshua Henry Information
Joshua Anthony Charlton Henry (September 2, 1984) is a Canadian-American singer and actor. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He received a Tony Award nod for his performance as Haywood Patterson in the Kander and Ebb musical The Scottsboro Boys in 2010. His performances as Billy Bigelow, in a Broadway version of Carousel earned him Tony Award nominations.
In 2006, Henry made his acting debut in a production of Godspell at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn, New Jersey, where he shared the role of Judas with John the Baptist. The 2008 Broadway transfer, in which he planned to feature alongside Gavin Creel as Jesus and Diana DeGarmo, was scrapped.
Henry joined the ensemble of the Off-Broadway musical In the Heights in 2007 and returned for the Broadway production that year. The cast of "In the Heights" was honored with a Drama Desk Award, while Henry and the ensemble also took home the ACCA Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. Henry starred in the off-Broadway production of Serenade from December 9 to the 15th of the same year.
Henry's original music was featured in the off-Broadway production of Shafrika, The White Girl, at the Vineyard Theatre in June 2009. In the original Broadway production of American Idiot, he portrayed the role of "Favorite Son" from March 24, 2010, until July 20, 2010.
