Jorja Alice Smith (June 11, 1997) is an English singer-songwriter born in Walsall, West Midlands, Smith has enjoyed creating music since she was 11. Smith was discovered by record producer Guy Moot in 2012 when a friend of hers covered Labrinth's "Earthquake" on YouTube.
After the success of her first two singles, she signed with Sony/ATV at the beginning of 2016, and later that year (and into 2017), she released two extended plays. Her first studio album, 2018's Lost & Found, debuted in the top three on the UK Albums Chart and received positive reviews from critics.
Smith also took home a Brit Critics' Choice Award the same year. She was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and won the Brit Award for Best British Female Artist in 2019.
Smith started hosting a 12-part BBC Radio 3 show called "Tearjerker" in 2020. The show is on the therapeutic potential of music. That year, she dropped two singles: "By Any Means" and "Come Over," which featured Popcaan. Be Right Back, her third EP was released on May 14, 2021, and received praise from critics.
Smith released his single "Little Things" on May 11, 2023; by May 19, 2023, it had reached #95 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart Top 100. Smith confirmed the September 2023 release of her next studio album, Falling or Flying, on May 18, 2023. To promote her new album, Smith released the third song, "Go Go Go," on August 4, 2023.
