Jonathan David Buck is a record producer, singer, and songwriter who was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He released his debut album entitled “Bonafide” on May 23, 1995. The album went platinum and ended up being the personal favorite of late legendary rapper Tupac Shakur.
The musical influences of Jon B. include Sade, Prince, Babyface, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, INXS, and Duran Duran. After high school, Jon B. spent all the summer writing, producing, and recording nearly 40 songs. He also began making his rounds to all the major record labels at the time.
Before his rise to fame as a Jon B., he was known as a songwriter. He wrote songs for the Spice Girls, Color Me Badd, Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, and After 7. In the mid-1990s. Jon B.'s own popularity started to spread when he released his debut studio album entitled “Bonafide” in 1995. Bonafide produced the Grammy-nominated and the popular hit single “Someone to Love.” The single featured the award-winning artist, Babyface, and sold over 1 million copies rather quickly.
Jon B. has worked with many record labels throughout his music career, including E1, Epic Records, 550, Yab Yum, Sanctuary, Edmonds Music, Arsenal, and Vibezelect. His notable studio albums include Cool Relax (1997), Pleasures U Like (2001), Stronger Everyday (2004), Holiday Wishes: From Me to You (2006), Helpless Romantic (2008), and Comfortable Swagg (2012). Jon B. has worked in a few compilation albums such as Love Hurts (1999), Are U Still Down: Greatest Hits (2002), and B-Sides Collection (2013).
