Southern soul-rockers JJ Grey & Mofro hail from Jacksonville, Florida. In the mid-1990s, John Higginbotham, better known as "JJ Grey," and Daryl Hance formed Mofro. They performed in Europe under the name Mofro Magic after signing with a label in the UK. Released in 2001, Blackwater was Mofro's debut studio album. "Blackwater" and "Florida" are only two of the many tracks on the album that draw inspiration from JJ Grey's childhood home.
This River was published in April 2013 by JJ Grey & Mofro. "Florabama," "99 Shades of Crazy," and "Your Lady, She's Shady" are just a few of the well-known, energetic tracks on the album. Ol' Glory was the debut album by JJ Grey & Mofro, released on February 24, 2015, under Provogue Records. Tracks on Ol' Glory, as on many of their earlier albums, feature stories influenced by the South set to an eclectic mix of blues, rock, folk, funk, and gospel.
