Jim Cuddy Information
James Gordon Cuddy (December 2, 1955) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Cuddy was born in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He met and befriended Greg Keelor, his future bandmate, in North Toronto Collegiate Institute. He also attended Queen's University and Upper Canada College. Cuddy and Keelor, along with Jim Sublett on drums and Malcolm Schell on bass, founded the Hi-Fis after graduating from university. In 1980, the band released a single with "Look What You've Done" on the A-side and "I Don't Know Why (You Love Me)" on the B-side.
Cuddy and Keelor established a new band, Blue Rodeo, with Wiseman in 1984 and added bassist Bazil Donovan and backing drummer Cleave Anderson. Since then, Cuddy has led the band through considerable touring and the release of 15 studio albums.
Cuddy has five solo albums to his credit and tours with the Jim Cuddy Band, including Bazil Donovan, Colin Cripps, Joel Anderson, Steve O'Connor, Anne Lindsay, and Gavin Brown. Kathleen Edwards, former Weeping Tile member Sarah Harmer, and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy have all appeared as guests on his solo projects.
Cuddy was named Best Male Vocalist at the 1999 JUNO Awards and Adult Alternative Album of the Year at the 2007 JUNO Awards for The Light That Guides You Home. Cuddy and his Blue Rodeo bandmate Greg Keelor won the National Achievement Award at the annual SOCAN Awards in Toronto in 2000.
