Jazzmeia Horn Information
Jazzmeia Horn (April 16, 1991) is an American jazz singer and songwriter. She was born in Dallas, Texas. In 2009, Horn relocated to New York City. The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music was where she studied. During her first semester there, she established a trio with Javier Santiago, Nadav Lachishe, and Cory Cox at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas.
She played at The Apollo, Ginny's Supper Club, and the Metropolitan Room before debuting live on radio in the fall of 2009 on the Junior Mance WBGO program in Newark, New Jersey. Jazz critics have since given Horn numerous awards. Horn made a global tour in 2014, visiting countries like England, France, Russia, South Africa, and Austria. She performed with artists including James Morrison, Wycliffe Gordon, Gordon Goodwin, and Ross Irwin as one of the stars of South Australia's Generations in Jazz 2017.
Horn also released her debut album in 2017. Its name is A Social Call, and according to the JazzWeek website, it is the best album of 2017. She traveled across the United States, Macau, and Europe for the record tour (London, Paris, and Milan). 2018 saw Horn receive her first Grammy nomination for A Social Call. On January 28, 2018, she performed at the 60th Grammy Awards Ceremony to tremendous acclaim from the audience.
