Jazz Series Information
Jazz musicians of various genres, from bebop to big band, swing charts to standards, are included in Lawrence's Jazz Series. Jazz Series performances have ranged from solo acts to large ensembles taking up the entire stage. Bobby McFerrin, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Chick Corea, Diana Krall, Cassandra Wilson, the Dave Holland Quintet, and many others (even Dizzy Gillespie!) have all performed as part of our series.
Samara Joy has a voice that is as smooth as velvet, and she appears to improve with each performance. Samara will accompany the Pasquale Grasso Trio on her debut recording, which she is currently recording after taking first place in the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. She is one of the Jazz Series artists.
Liam Teague is another well-known performer. He has performed with a wide range of ensembles, including Nexus, TCL Group Skiffle Bunch Steel Orchestra, BpTT Renegades Steelband, and Starlift Steel Orchestra, as well as the Taiwan National Symphony, Czech National Symphony, Saint Louis Symphony, Panama National Symphony, Vermeer String Quartet, Dartmouth Wind Ensemble, and University of Wisconsin-Madison Marching Band.
