Jason Cole Critchlow (February 25, 1998) is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is professionally known as Jay Critch. Critch was born and grew up in Clinton Hill, which is the neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of a British-Guyanese father and a Trinidadian mother. Critch spends his childhood listening to pops like Lil Wayne, Fabolous, and Jay-Z. He also loved listening to various rappers from New York City. He was really into his big brother's rap as well.
One of the major and first Jay Critch's collaborations was with Rowdy Rebel. They both did the song entitled "Man Down" in 2015. The next year, Critch started to upload songs on his SoundCloud account. In 2016, he was the subject of widespread attention due to his song "Did It Again." The song was remixed by Rich the Kid, who later signed Critch to his label named Rich Forever Music in November 2016. The collaboration was a wild success, and it went viral in no time. The music video gained million-plus views within the first week of release.
Jay Critch released his debut solo mixtape in 2018 entitled Hood Favorite. Critch got featured on Lil Tjay's "Ruthless." The hit was fortunate enough to earn platinum certification. Critch released his third mixtape in December 2020 named Signed with Love. It was followed by another mixtape, Critch Tape, that came out on May 5, 2021. This recent project contains 23 songs in total.
