Dutch producer Jarreau Vandal immersed himself in the lively sounds and influence of '90s hip-hop and alternative rock in Amsterdam as a child. After hearing bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jamiroquai, he was first inspired to become a drummer. Still, his attention turned quickly when his producer grandfather introduced him to electronic creation at 16.
While a promoter and DJ in Amsterdam, he tried to develop a unique sound that drew on his interests and experiences. Vandal's first EP, including original compositions and remixes, was published in 2014 by the Los Angeles label Soulection. The next year, he released another EP called Suburb Superhero. Some of the music released by Vandal in 2017 includes the singles "Murder" and "Someone That You Love" and the mixtape Vandalized Edits, Vol. III.
