Inter Arma Information
Inter Arma is a black metal band from Richmond, Virginia, created by members of Bastard Sapling. They're recognized for fusing Southern, Black, Sludge, and Post-Metal influences. Inter Arma was founded in 2006 in Richmond, Virginia, and has since released two demos and a split 7" with Battlemaster and touring primarily in the Virginia area. In April 2009, the band recorded and mixed their debut album at The Mystic Fortress in Roanoke. Sundown published it on April 14, 2010, to positive reviews. Following that year's mini-tours, the band recorded a follow-up album the following year.
Toxic Assets released a four-song EP called Destroyer on June 9, 2012. After signing with Relapse Records two months later, the band went on tour with Pallbearer and Scott Kelly.
Mikey Allred recorded Inter Arma's second album at Dark Arts Studio from March 21 to March 29, 2012. On March 15, 2013, Sky Burial was released to critical acclaim after signing with Relapse and making Decibel Magazine's "20 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2013" list. Inter Arma traveled extensively to support the record, performing at important events such as SXSW, Hopscotch Music Festival, and Boomslang.
Inter Arma also recorded new material during that summer's concerts, including "a forty-plus minute piece created over the summer of 2009 and only played out a few times." The band continued to tour throughout the following year, including their first trip to Europe.
