Hunx and His Punx Information
Hunx and His Punx is an American punk band. The group's current lineup consists of Nik Johnson, Erin Emslie, Shannon Shaw, and Seth Bogart. Hunx, whose actual name is Seth Bogart, formed the band in 2008 after spending several years as a member of the pop group Gravy Train!!!! The band's style combines punk and bubblegum elements, making comparisons to female groups. In 2009, the band embarked on its first headlining U.S. tour with support from Jay Reatard and Nobunny.
Gay Songs, a collection of the band's early songs, was released in 2010 on True Panther Sounds in the United States and Born Bad in France. It was announced in June 2011 that this would be Hunx's last performance featuring the "Punkettes," as guitarists Amy Blaustein and Michelle Santamaria had left the band, forming a new group called Hunx and His Punx. And so he uprooted his life and headed west to sunny Los Angeles.
Hunx's solo album, Hairdresser Blues, was published on the Hardly Art label in February 2012. On his 2016 Burger album, published under his real name, Seth Bogart, which also featured contributions from Kathleen Hanna and Tavi Gevinson, he showcased his songwriting and production skills as a solo artist for the second time. Seth Bogart, Shannon Shaw, and Erin Emslie are the newest additions to Hunx and His Punx. 2013 they dropped Street Punk and hit the road with new guitarist Nik Johnson and their new album. They dropped a best hits album to coincide with the Japanese stop on the Street Punk tour in 2014.
