George Lynch Information
George Lynch (September 28, 1954) is an American guitarist. He was born in Spokane, Washington. Lynch tried out to be Ozzy Osbourne's lead guitarist twice, the first time in 1979 when he was unsuccessful in his bid to replace Randy Rhoads. Lynch's band, The Boyz, was a fixture on the Sunset Strip clubs in Hollywood in the late '70s, performing alongside such luminaries as Van Halen and Quiet Riot. Mick Brown (later of Dokken), Monte Zufelt (bass), Lisa Furspanker (vocals), and Greg Sanford (vocals) were also members of The Boyz. Their demo was passed around as a "pre-Roth Van Halen recording" due to the similarities between their sound and Lynch's playing and Van Halen's.
In early 2002, Lynch began collaborating with producer/engineer Sean Fodor on the doomed Microdot project, which featured then-unknown vocalist London LeGrand. A few songs from the project have been released, including "Bulldog Tyranny" on The Lost Anthology and three more songs Lynch later released as The Lynch That Stole Riffness with Robert Mason on vocals.
Lynch and former Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson collaborated on an album titled Wicked Underground, released in 2003 under the band's moniker. The same year, Lynch began recording and touring extensively with The George Lynch Group. The George Lynch Group played 26 gigs in 30 days, including an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
