Eyehategod, which is also abbreviated and referred to as EHG, is one of the famous American sludge metal bands. The group originated from New Orleans and was formed in 1988. The band is well-known as one of the bands to emerge from the NOLA metal scene. The music style of Eyehategod is defined as sludge metal. The current lineup of the band consists of Jimmy Bower as a guitarist, Mike Williams as a vocalist, Gary Mader on bass, and Aaron Hill on drums. Some of the former members are Chris Hillard, Joey LaCaze, Mark Schultz, Brian Patton, and a few more. Jimmy Bower and Joey LaCaze initially founded the group on April 20, 1988.
Some of the key influences discussed by the band members are Melvins, Carnivore, Black Flag, Corrosion of Conformity, The Obsessed, Discharge, Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, Saint Vitus, and Confessor. In its initial stages, the band recorded two demos entitled Garden Dwarf Woman Driver (1989) and Lack of Almost Everything (1990). The first album released by Eyehategod was released in 1990, entitled In the Name of Suffering. It was followed by Taking as Needed for Pain in 1993, and extensive tours with Chaos UK, Buzzov*en, White Zombie, and a few more.
